Panasonic Energy Corporation of America is Hiring an Electronics Technician I Near Columbus, GA

Performs all job duties associated with providing the production lines with technical support, and maintaining and improving the programming, electrical, and electronic operations of the machinery down to the component level.

SALARY RANGE: $19.65 - $23.58 per Hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains active communications with management, other members of the group, and other departments, and informs the supervisor when problems occur.
  • Troubleshoots machinery problems:
    • Checks to ensure that the problem is not mechanical.
    • Inspects the programming, electrical, and electronic operation of the machines by checking the sensors and timing, testing the voltage and amperage, etc.
    • Goes through the programs and technical documents of the machinery to verify results and observations.
  • Makes the needed programming, electrical, and electronic changes, adjustments, and repairs such as:
    • Replaces bad sensors.
    • Adjusts the timing on the machines.
    • Makes programming changes.
    • Completes circuit board repairs.
  • Determines and contacts the appropriate personnel if the problem calls for repair other than in the electrical or electronic systems.
  • Assists in the completion of joint maintenance and modification projects between the Machinery Group and the Manufacturing Department, including the following tasks:
    • Modifies machine programs.
    • Changes out sensors.
    • Assists in setting-up new and modified pieces of equipment.
  • Maintains and updates the technical documents, ensuring that all modifications and changes have been noted.
  • Assists the Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians in completing the needed building and plant maintenance, as required.
  • Maintains a general log of all work completed and in-process.
  • Develops suggestions and recommendations for improvements and modifications to increase safety, quality, production rate and efficiency.
  • Performs periodic maintenance procedures of the electrical and electronic systems including:
    • Checks the wiring of the machines and controls.
    • Cleans electrical components.
    • Replaces certain parts according to maintenance schedules.
  • Ensures that the necessary equipment, parts, and materials are in stock and available for use.
  • Cleans and organizes the work area and equipment.
  • Checks and calibrates the testing equipment (voltage and amperage meters, strength/stress testing equipment, etc.)
  • Assists the training of the Machine Keepers and Electronic Technicians on electrical repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Completes minor Machine Shop work in repairing equipment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of technical training with at least 2 years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Ability to read and write Ladder Logic. Ability to use Programmable Logic Controllers. Knowledge of both AC and DC power supplies. Basic knowledge of EMS work instructions and Hazardous Waste Management procedures relevant to positions for which assigned. Training may include, but not limited to, on-the-job training, department reviews and internal/external training. Must have knowledge within operating parameters specified by permits and EMS Work Instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
